Wolves defender Conor Coady has waxed lyrical about the performances of Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez in Saturday’s dramatic 4-3 win over Leicester City.
Speaking to the Express and Star, Coady labelled Wolves’ striking duo as ‘sensational’ as Wolves climbed to 8th in the Premier League table.
Jota scored a hat-trick, including a last-gasp 93rd-minute winner, to record the club’s first top-flight treble since 1977 in the win over the Foxes.
Those three strikes take him to five league goals for the season, and the 22-year-old has proven to be an astute signing given his 17 goal tally of last term.
Jimenez assisted Jota for the winning goal on Saturday and is the club’s top scorer this campaign with seven goals in all competitions.
Since joining on loan from Benfica in the summer, the Mexican international has led the Wolves line superbly and also provided six assists.
On the performances of the two strikers last weekend, Coady said:
The two front boys are incredible, they’re fantastic players. You look at the way they move the ball, the way they drag Leicester’s defenders around, they’re sensational. They were a real pleasure to watch. What Jota’s done this year and how he’s come to the fore, he’s scored a Premier League hat-trick, he deserves it. We’re most happy about Jota because of what he’s done for the team. We know how good he is and what he’ll bring. Not just goals – his work-rate and his running off the ball. He gives everything for this football club. He’s so strong, you look at him coming up against Wes Morgan, a top Premier League centre-half, he’s held him off, he’s strong, he holds the ball up, he turns, he runs, he’s so strong for a little fella
Wolves travel to Shrewsbury Town this weekend in the fourth round of the FA Cup before hosting West Ham United next Tuesday.
