Nuno knows Wolves must be wary of Mitrovic
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has admitted his defence will have to be on top form to handle the threat posed by Aleksandar Mitrovic later today.
As reported by the Express and Star, Mitrovic has been Fulham’s standout performer in a disappointing first half of their campaign.
The 24-year-old has started every one of the club’s 18 Premier League matches to date, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in the process.
That goals tally amounts to just under half of the Cottagers’ league strikes, and in total, the Serb has scored 13 goals for club and country this season.
Mitrovic has also done well against Wolves in the past, earning the man of the match award when the Whites came out on top 2-0 in the Championship in February.
Speaking ahead of the Boxing Day clash, Espirito Santo addressed the importance of the striker to Claudio Ranieri’s side.
He said:
Last season in that moment he was a player who really helped them to get promoted. Their performance was fantastic and he is a very good player. I think he is one of the strikers who plays better with his back against the goal and we have to work on that.
Last season he created a lot of problems, especially because he was man to man with our last reference of defence. We have to balance better.
