Nuno insists performances are more important than results
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo has reiterated his desire to put performances before results.
Sky Sports write that his team have lost their last three matches in succession, and have failed to pick up a point since the boss was awarded the September Manager of the Month award.
Wolves have made a fine start on their return to the top-flight, finding themselves well clear of danger in 11th after 11 matches.
However, the last three results have put a slight dampener on the mood around Molineux, and the Portuguese will be keen to address the slump sooner rather than later.
The 44-year-old implied he would not be changing his style any time soon, saying:
You can’t get results if you don’t perform – that’s definite. That’s what I think, that’s what I defend and this is how we work. We work to perform better, we work to perform well and we work to play the way we want to play. We do the things we want to do and then we try to achieve the result, but we don’t think about the result first. No matter what – perform well, do your task and try to win.
We reacted well from the bad performance against Watford, we didn’t achieve the result against Brighton or Tottenham but we performed well. We’re not in the best moment but we have to react to it. In every moment it’s a challenge for us because we have to get better. You have to challenge yourself and improve yourself.
Wolves face a difficult trip to Arsenal on Sunday, where they may find it difficult to get that elusive win.
