Summer signing Moutinho already feels settled with Wolves
Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Moutinho says the number of Portuguese players at the club has helped him settle quickly into life in the Midlands.
The Express and Star write that Moutinho has adapted to the rigours of the Premier League almost immediately following his £5m summer move from Monaco.
The 32-year-old has started every league match to date alongside international teammate Ruben Neves in the heart of the Wolves midfield and has impressed with his overall play.
The presence of fellow countrymen Diogo Jota, Rui Patricio and Helder Costa has also been beneficial to the player with a European Championship under his belt.
The midfielder said:
I like English football and there are Portuguese people here. A lot of players are Portuguese or speak Portuguese and it’s good. It’s easy to be at this club.
Moutinho also commented on the stature of England’s top flight, having also played at the highest levels of Portuguese and French football:
The Premier League, for me, is the best league in the world. All the players want to play in the best league and the Premier League is the best. The game never stops, the rhythm is good – it’s fast. That’s good.
I’ve played with this kind of style and maybe that’s why I suit it. This league you play fast, one or two touch. It’s aggressive, but not like you’re going to hurt someone. The players don’t go for the leg, they go for the ball.
Moutinho is likely to be on of the first names on the team sheet for this weekend’s trip to Manchester United, where Wolves will be hoping to make it three league wins in a row.
